When should I replace my electrical panel?

❗️Answer❗️
Most electrical panels last 20-30 years. Some warning signs of failure are:
▪️Frequently tripping: constantly resetting the cam circuit breakers means the system is overloaded
▪️Strange noises or smells: a sizzling, crackling, or buzzing sound, or a smell of burning plastic, indicates melting wires
▪️Physical damage: rust, corrosion, scorch marks, or a warm metal cover mean the panel is a severe fire hazard
▪️Power fluctuations: lights that dim or flicker when major appliances turn on show the panel cannot supply enough current

When a private equity buys a local HVAC shop, you're the one paying the price. Repair and installation bills go way up. These companies will not advertise this. When this happens, the focus shifts from fixing the problem with your unit, to giving you an expensive estimate to replace it, in order to hit their sales quotas.

Why is my A/C unit making a weird noise?

❗️Answer❗️
◾️Squealing or Screeching: A high-pitched noise usually means a worn-out fan belt or dry motor bearing that need oil. It could also mean dangerous high pressure inside the compressor.

◾️Banging or Clanking: A heavy hitting sound means a loose or broken part inside the compressor or a fan blade hitting something. Turn your system off immediately!

◾️Hissing or Whistling: A whistling sound often means a dirty air filter blocking airflow. A loud hiss usually means a refrigerant leak.

◾️Buzzing or Humming: A low electrical hum points to a failing capacitor, loose electrical wiring, or a dirty outdoor unit.

◾️Rattling or Clicking: Loose cabinet screws, twigs, or leaves stuck in the outdoor fan cause rattling. Fast clicking often points to an electrical relay or thermostat problem.
