There are families waking up to grief that never left. That is why Memorial Day exists.🇺🇸
Not for sales.
Not for long weekends.
Not for parties and fireworks alone.
But for the sons and daughters who never came home.
The fathers and mothers whose children only know them through photographs.
The husbands or wives whose side of the bed stayed empty forever.
The mothers who still tear up at the sound of the national anthem because their child died wrapped in one.
