What goes into safely hauling liquids?

It takes more than a truck and a driver.

From dispatch and route planning to equipment inspections, loading and unloading, communication, and safe driving practices — there are a lot of moving parts behind every load.

And when you're hauling liquids in the oil & gas industry, safety and attention to detail matter at every step.

This Tank Truck Week, we're recognizing the drivers, dispatchers, operators, and everyone behind the scenes who helps keep the wheels turning and the work moving.

🚛 Safe loads. Safe roads. Safe returns home.

DID YOU KNOW? | H₂S DETECTION

Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) can be especially dangerous because you cannot rely on your sense of smell to detect it.

At low concentrations, H₂S may have a distinctive “rotten egg” odor. But as concentrations increase, H₂S can quickly deaden your sense of smell, making the odor an unreliable warning.

That’s why proper H₂S monitors are essential when working in areas where H₂S may be present.

👉 Don’t rely on your nose. Rely on your monitor.

Stay alert. Stay equipped. Stay safe.

Why Grounding & Bonding Matter on Pump/Vac Trucks

When vacuum and/or pump trucks are used to transfer produced water, crude, emulsions, or other hydrocarbon-containing fluids, controlling static electricity is an important part of the job.

Moving these fluids isn't just about getting the job done efficiently. It's also about managing potential ignition sources.

Static electricity can be generated as fluids move through hoses, piping, tanks, and equipment. When flammable vapors may be present, that stored energy needs to be properly controlled.

That's where grounding and bonding come in.

🔹 Grounding provides a path for electrical charge to dissipate to earth.
🔹 Bonding helps bring conductive components to the same electrical potential, reducing the chance of a spark caused by a difference in potential.

The exact setup depends on the equipment, fluid, site conditions, and applicable procedures and standards.

Don't treat grounding and bonding as an afterthought. Make it part of the pumping process from the start.

Safety first.
