Please help us welcome Drew Edelstein to the KEG Crew as our new Marketing Coordinator! Drew brings over three years of A|E|C marketing experience, leveraging their passion for storytelling to help share and celebrate some of the most impactful projects shaping our world. In their role as Marketing Coordinator, Drew will support KEG's internal and external communications efforts, including digital platforms such as KEG's social media and website.

Drew is also an active volunteer with Society for Marketing Professional Services St. Louis, serving as the current board Secretary while supporting the wide range of programs offered by the St. Louis chapter. A proud St. Louis resident, Drew is passionate about supporting the growth of the Greater St. Louis metro through their work.

In their free time, Drew is an avid film buff, music nerd, and is constantly experimenting with new coffee brews and cocktail recipes. They are also a passionate cat parent, and are always on the lookout for new vinyls to add to their record collection.

🚲 You may have seen the bicycle symbols and arrows painted on roadways, but sharrows are much more than just pavement markings! They help guide cyclists to a safer position on the roadway while reminding motorists to expect and share the road.

Research documented by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) found measurable safety improvements after sharrows were added:
• Avoidance maneuvers (cyclist changing speed or direction to avoid a vehicle) dropped from 76% to 37%
• Sidewalk riding dropped from 43% to 23%. Sidewalk riding is a major contributor to crashes
• Motorists' tire-to-curb spacing increased by about 7 inches, giving cyclists more room
• 91% of cyclists tracked over the sharrows, riding a safer distance from the curb/drain grates

Sharrows can be an effective tool for improving cyclist positioning, increasing awareness, and creating a multi-modal transportation for communities. Better communication on the road means safer streets for all users!

KEG Build is having a busy summer! 🚧 KEG's Contracting Division is supporting pavement marking improvements along Interstate 64 from IL Route 157 to Greenmount Road in St. Clair County, Illinois. Our team is performing the installation of underdrain headwall markers and a variety of pavement marking applications, including:
• Thermoplastic pavement markings
• Preformed plastic pavement markings
• Grooved recessed pavement markings
• Raised reflective pavement markers

We had a furry friend visit us during environmental fieldwork! 🐕️

KEG has been providing planning and environmental services and engineering support for the Illinois Bureau of Innovative Project Delivery’s Off-System Structures Bundling Program (OSSBP) at bridge and culvert sites throughout Illinois. Our Environmental Team recently conducted wetland and surface water delineations, bridge bat assessments, special waste assessments, and historic building and structure photo logs throughout Saline, Hamilton, Alexander, Pulaski, and Union Counties. These efforts are helping to streamline Phase I and Phase II engineering and advancing environmental compliance across the bundled structures! Thank you to CDM Smith for partnering with KEG on this important statewide project!

We’re still not over how much fun our 20th Anniversary Celebration was! With our entire staff in town and so many of our clients, partners, and friends in attendance, it truly was the perfect way to celebrate 20 years of KEG and kick off another year together. When geophysical exploration requires us to hammer drill through 12 inches of pavement, our team has the brains and the brawn to get the job done! 💪 KEG’s Geotechnical Team recently performed electrical resistivity testing to support the design of grounding system elements for large-scale electrical equipment and heavy-load infrastructure.

Understanding how the subsurface will conduct and dissipate electrical current is an important part of designing a safe and effective grounding system. Using highly specialized geophysics equipment and expertise, our team hammer drilled through pavement and aggregate base to install the electrodes necessary for Wenner array testing and characterize subsurface soil resistivity conditions.
