Slice of Heaven is so back!

Two years ago a car crashed through their building, destroying the patio space as well as a large part of a wall.

Last Friday, owner Marci cut the ribbon on the grand reopening of her bakery in front of a brand new wall and entryway. We feel incredibly lucky to have helped rebuild this space and play a part in bringing this community staple back to life.

Small businesses like Slice of Heaven are part of what makes Bellingham feel like home.

Dawson was proud to attend this week’s Downtown Neighborhood Meeting hosted by the Downtown Bellingham Partnership at Structures Brewing with Mayor Kim Lund and City leadership.

As a contractor actively working on multiple tenant improvement and construction projects in Downtown Bellingham, we care deeply about the long-term health, vitality, and success of the downtown core.

It was encouraging to see business owners, community members, and City leaders coming together to have open conversations about housing, economic growth, safety, and creating a vibrant place for people to live, work, and gather.

Partnering with our communities to promote a healthy balance of mind, body and spirit. That's SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC) vision, and we've been proud to build the spaces where they bring it to life across Southeast Alaska for over 20 years.

40+ projects together: the Vintage Park Medical Office Building, workforce housing for SEARHC staff, a mobile MRI canopy and a pediatric clinic. And now the Vintage Park Dental Clinic, answering a growing need for dental care in the Mendenhall Valley and the surrounding region.

This week, the curtainwall is going up and the building is starting to take on that recognizable SEARHC look!

2026 Construction Safety Week wraps up today, but the work doesn’t stop.

At Dawson, putting people first is at the heart of how we work. That starts with making sure all crew members have the tools, training, and support to make it home safely every day. This week our teams spent time reviewing best practices and getting hands on with suspension trauma safety straps and harness training.

While we hope to never need them, suspension trauma safety straps give suspended workers a way to stand up in their harness after a fall, helping relieve pressure and reduce the risk of serious injury while waiting for rescue.

Huge thanks to our safety team for putting on a great week of training. All in together.

Meet Dawson!

Meet Dawson! 🦺🚧

Dawson is the newest puppy to join the Brigadoon crew, and we’re so excited to have him! He comes to us from our friends at Dogs for Better Lives.

His name was chosen by Dawson Construction, who generously sponsored the successor dog to Davie—currently serving as a facility dog at the Whatcom County Courthouse. While Davie is still doing incredible work, we’re beginning to thoughtfully plan for his eventual retirement.

For now, Dawson has some big paws to grow into—and we can’t wait to follow his journey!

Juneau Notice - Road Closures: Dawson is beginning a project renovating the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary on 5th Street. As part of this renovation, there will be road closures on the section of 5th Street between Harris Street and Gold Street beginning 4/30/26 until October 2026.

Sneak peek! Since most of this work will soon be underground, here’s a look at what our civil team has been up to at Bellis Fair Senior Housing. Swipe to follow along:

First, the crew installed the fire line, water, and sewer systems—laying the groundwork for everything to come.

Next, underslab prep was in full swing for footings, grade beams, and plumbing/electrical. This is where the site really started to take shape.

Then the capillary break went down, and the site was handed off for v***r barrier and slab prep—concrete is up next!

Check back for updates as we wrap up civil work and start going vertical on the second phase of this project.
