I've not posted anything for a while. Finally back in the loop. Here is a recesnt project.

A really nice timber framed pergola for the fellow we did the big truss barn for last year. Feels good to be back at work after taking nearly a year out for cancer treatments - which, by the way, have gone really well.

Last CT scan showed no evidence of disease. Still have a chemo treatment every two months. The stem cell/bone marrow transplant really knocked me on my ass but I'm recovering and gaining back my strength slowly Back at work full time and am able to lift my end of the timbers and keep up with the crew pretty well.

In the photos, so as not to mislead, I did not do the house shown in the evening shot. I did do the big white barn in the background and the pergola.

Now that I've got your attention with the previous post showing the interesting log corner dovetail, here is what I found after looking at things more closely. Trying to figure this out in my head was driving me crazy so I broke out the 3D sketchup modeler and here's what I found. Not sure if this is exactly how they did it but it seems to work. The red and green textures are in keeping with the holiday season! Those Scandihoovian carpenters are pretty crafty folks...
