Workplace air purification—what is proven to work best?

As COVID 19 continues to spike, a lot of building owners are wondering how they can get their employees back to work, while doing everything they can to ensure air quality. MERV 13 filters are being encouraged, but long lead times and no real proof that they stop any virus have not made for good options.

Now, there are real options. The most effective method out there is Bipolar ionization. Many third party certifications prove that this technology gets the job done. Rates of reduction for COVID 19 are 99.9 and 99.8 percent! These units also have similar effectiveness rates on Norovirus, Legionella, MRSA, E Coli, Staphylococcus, and Tuberculosis.

These units can be easily be integrated into existing furnaces, rooftops, and air handlers. Lead times and costs for these devices are attractive right now. It is also proven that bipolar ionization increases the effectiveness of filters. A MERV 8 becomes a MERV 13 filter because the particulate (via positive/negative ions) become larger, thus making the filters more efficient. This saves the owner money because he doesn’t have to purchase expensive MERV 13 filters.

BI units are also a win for people with asthma or breathing problems. The integration of these systems is also extremely effective when it comes to killing odors. Smells from kitchens, humidity, perfumes, or any other VOC’s are taken care of as well. Bipolar ionization is also effective against dust, dander, smoke and mold.
