Attention heat pump owners!

Due to the expected precipitation and freezing temperatures this weekend, it is advisable to set your heat pump thermostat to “emergency heat” from Friday evening until Monday, maybe Tuesday, morning to avoid damage to your heat pump. During these conditions, the precipitation can freeze on the fan blades and cause excessive vibration which can lead to costly repairs to the heat pump and is not covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Another issue is the precipitation freezing on top of the fan grille and causing the heat pump to frost over more than it should and may not defrost properly. Please give us a call if you have any questions, and most of all, be safe and stay warm. Fingers crossed that the forecast is wrong and this stuff will stay north of us.

Due to the expected precipitation and freezing temperatures, it will be best to set your heat pump thermostat to “emergency heat” for the next couple of days to avoid damage to your heat pump. During these conditions, the precipitation can freeze on the fan blades and cause excessive vibration which can damage the coils, cause cracks in the fan blade, or worse yet, develop large cracks in the fan blade that can cause the blades to break off and puncture the coils.
