To clear up some of what we have been hearing lately from customers:

It is not illegal to repair an air conditioning unit that has R-410A. If it's under warranty parts are most likely still easy to get. We went to give a second opinion on this 6 year old carrier unit only to find the customer had been given incorrect information and companies tried to fear sell her a new unit. Instead of giving her pricing for a replacement we found the warranty compressor and repaired the unit for a much lower price than replacing a 5 ton unit. Think what you were told was wrong? The difference between a professional installation and just getting it done is very clear in the work. We pride ourselves on our work quality. Received a call from a customer that he was told he needed a new unit. Noticed the house was 72 when we arrived. Upon inspection of the unit we found this. One loose wire connector that had overheated. Repair cost including a few extra maintenance items the last maintenance company missed under $800. Don't let a selling technician scare you into a replacement. We're happy to come look at units and do simple repairs to help you get a few more years out of your system. Air Conditioners are expected to last 15-20 years with proper maintenance. If you're at 10 years and it's not leaking replacement may not be the best option.
