If PGE has recently been to your house, go look at your AC unit. If you see this box on it, you’re going to notice your AC unit not running as called for.

This box is installed under the pretense of a free home energy audit and usually gives the homeowner something of value but doesn’t explain what this box is really for.

It’s to turn off your HVAC system during a strain on the grid when it gets hot like it’s been for the last week.

Just today, we’ve found 2 on houses in Benicia and Vallejo while doing service for folks who think their AC unit is broke only for them now to get a bill for a service call.

We wanted to let y’all know that the tariffs have hit the HVAC industry pretty hard. Between the cost of the metal to build the units and the shipping from Mexico/Canada, it’s raised prices for the equipment at least another 10%.
