Meet Glen Brimmer, one of our newest Design Engineers who was promoted from his previous position as a Drafting/Checking engineer. He has been with us for 8 years and celebrated his work anniversary last October. Glen's primary responsibility these days is to work on a CAD program where he creates machine parts, drawings, and mechanisms for various customer projects. His goal is to make the machines he designs rugged and user-friendly. He enjoys the camaraderie among his colleagues, problem-solving, and the satisfaction that comes along with a happy customer. During the pandemic, when Glen was not working on drafting and checking, he assisted with various projects around Abacus, from painting office space to outdoor ground maintenance. He was always ready to step up and help where needed. Outside of work, Glen enjoys spending time with his wife and their dogs, as well as riding his mountain bike.

Wow, we had an amazing Employee Appreciation Day this month! Our employees were thrilled with the delicious taco bar we had set up for them. We owe a huge thanks to the Avocado Pit for providing us with the tastiest taco meat ever!
But that's not all - we also celebrated the birthdays of two of our beloved colleagues, Theo Petersen and Tony Jomaa. It was a double celebration, indeed! Everyone had a great time, and we can't wait for the next one.

Introducing Theo Petersen, one of our mechanical design engineers at Abacus! Theo's expertise shines through in creating intricate 3D models of custom machines tailored to our clients' automation needs. From the initial concept sketch to meticulously calculating movement forces and assigning tolerance dimensions for each part, Theo pours his heart into every aspect of the project. With 2 years of experience at Abacus, Theo's favorite part of the job is the thrill of brainstorming with the Abacus team to tackle complex engineering puzzles with innovative, simple, and effective solutions. In his free time, Theo enjoys running on local trails, propagating plants, and going on outdoor adventures with his adventurous cat, Tycho.

Our annual 2023 Holiday Party was a great success! We would like to express our gratitude to all our employees for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. The food served at The Publyk House in Bennington VT was fantastic, including yankee pot roast, chicken marsala, whipped potatoes, vegetable medley, and apple cobbler for dessert. The food, atmosphere, staff, and of course our employees, made for a memorable evening. We wish you and your loved ones a happy holiday season!

Wow, what a BEAUTIFUL day we had yesterday! Not only the weather but our employee luncheon for November was a smashing success thanks to our incredible team. We can't thank you enough for all that you do! And a special shout-out to East Road Market And Deli for putting together the most delicious build-your-own sandwich platters we've ever seen. Meet Bernardo Salazar. Bernardo has worked at Abacus for 24 years as a Controls Programmer! He began his career here as an Electrical Technician shortly after his migration from Mexico to Vermont. Bernardo says that what he finds most interesting is the wide application fields for each project. Each machine is unique and brings new learning experiences and challenges, and it is rewarding when accomplished. He enjoys building machines that are innovative and environmentally friendly and enjoys the atmosphere and comfort that Abacus offers to their employees. In his spare time, Bernardo spends his time gardening, visiting with family and friends, and participates in a local Spanish speaking group that was created in Bennington. He also enjoys vacationing around New England and returning to Mexico City to visit family.

On this machine we had to heat a product safely and quickly to 1600°F (870°C) for proper heat treatment.
This is a very time sensitive process which can melt steel into a puddle in mere seconds! 🔥⏳
