Hope you all had a great Memorial Day Weekend.

Rest well tonight; back to work for everyone!
Our Gravel pit has big piles and now we are back to crushing at our Quarry here in Bennington, NH. https://dhhardwick.com/aggregates/ If you have not visited us for your construction projects, come check us out. This week we are making more 3/4" Stone and Hardpack, which are everyone's favorites!

We are also busy this week, starting a new logging job in Loudon, NH.

This weekend, we remember those who gave their lives to provide and keep our independence, which allows us all to be able to do what we love at home and at work. We can't take for granted that our great nation will continue being safe and prosperous without the hard work and dedication of our service men and women. We thank all of you for your sacrifice, and we thank God for guiding us through the past 250 years (both the good and the bad years). Our great nation has come a long way. Remember to be grateful!

We have Turkey visitors here at our facilities all the time, but now we see Bald Eagles at our (DHH) Gravel Pit right here in Bennington NH. This Thanksgiving, we can be thankful for our turkey feasts but also remember to be thankful for the freedoms we have in America!
Remember to be kind when fighting for what we believe in! At the dinner table, if politics come up, keep the discussion cordial! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

USA Today says... If your know-it-all cousin tries to tell you Benjamin Franklin wanted the country’s national symbol to be a turkey, rather than a Bald Eagle, between spoonfuls of mashed potatoes this Thanksgiving, tell them they’re wrong.

The long-recited myth was born out of a letter Franklin, one of the founding fathers, wrote to his daughter in 1784. Discussing the Great Seal of the United States, Franklin said he wished “the Bald Eagle had not been chosen the Representative of our Country,” calling it a “Bird of bad moral Character” who was “too lazy to fish for himself.”

“The Turkey is in Comparison a much more respectable Bird, and withal a true original Native of America,” Franklin continued. “He is, besides, though a little vain & silly, a Bird of Courage.”

DH Hardwick's feller buncher on another journey. We were able to squeeze through this very tight fit for a project in Boscowen NH. Loggers do have obstacles in our line of work. This one was very interesting! We always love a challenge!

timberpro_joe (Feller Bucher Operator) just cut brush around this old hidden Gem of History in Peterborough NH. It was likely a shanty for a homesteader, trapper or LOGGER shanty! (Our family ancestor stories tell how "whole families" dwelled in temporary logging camps, moving from jobsite to jobsite as relocation happened frequently in the old days!) Note the rustic pillars instead of a foundation. So much work to survive back in the day. We don't have it hard, just compare!
Hope you all enjoy Labor Day weekend!
I found this answer below, seeking the meaning of Labor Day...

"Labor Day, an annual celebration of workers and their achievements, originated during one of American labor history’s most dismal chapters. * In the late 1800s, at the height of the Industrial Revolution in the United States, the average American worked 12-hour days and seven-day weeks in order to eke out a basic living. Despite restrictions in some states, children as young as 5 or 6 toiled in mills, factories and mines across the country, earning a fraction of their adult counterparts’ wages."

We have come a long way. Let's all be grateful for what we have now!

We are BLESSED to have personal connections with https://www.facebook.com/renewchurchhancock/ and are so happy to be able to help out with their parking lot expansion! That Hardwick Hardpack looks very welcoming to the many who worship here. What a great church and loving membership that does great things for our community. "Dear friends, if God loved us in this way, we also must love one another." 1 John 4:11 HCSB 🙏
