📌 Federal Energy Tax Credit – QMID Numbers (Helpful Info)

If you installed a qualifying heat pump in 2025, you may be eligible for the federal energy-efficient tax credit (IRS §25C).

When filing, homeowners are often asked for a Qualified Manufacturer ID (QMID) — a 4-character code used on IRS Form 5695.

Below are commonly requested QMID numbers for major manufacturers.
(Shared for general reference — even if we didn’t install the system)

Heat Pump / HVAC Manufacturer QMIDs:
• Goodman / Daikin — I7Q6
• Bosch — K3M2
• Carrier / Heil — N8H2
• Lennox / Allied Air — L7S0
• Mitsubishi Electric — E8X7
• Trane / American Standard — B8T9
• Weil-McLain — 46H2

⚠️ Important:
Tax credits and eligibility can vary — always check with your tax preparer or accountant before filing.

If we installed your system and you need documentation (model numbers, AHRI certificates, invoices), just reach out — happy to help.

❄️ Extreme Cold Weather & Heat Pump Performance ❄️

With temperatures at or below 0°F, we’ve been getting a lot of questions about heat pumps and thermostats. Here are a few important things to know:

🔹 Thermostat vs. Room Temperature
In extreme cold, it’s common for a heat pump to maintain a temperature slightly below what the thermostat is set to. Heat pumps move heat rather than create it, and when outdoor temperatures drop this low, their capacity is reduced.

🔹 Nighttime Setbacks Can Cause Long Recovery Times
If you turn your thermostat down overnight, don’t be surprised if it takes many hours to recover in the morning — or never quite gets there. In very cold weather, heat pumps work best when maintaining a steady temperature.

👉 Best practice: Keep all thermostats set to the same temperature day and night during extreme cold.

🔹 Aux / Emergency Heat Is Normal
You may see auxiliary or backup heat running more often. This is normal when temperatures drop and helps the system keep up with demand.

🔹 What You Can Do to Help Your System
✔ Keep outdoor units clear of snow and ice
✔ Make sure supply and return vents are not blocked
✔ Close blinds at night to reduce heat loss
✔ Seal drafts around doors and windows
✔ Replace dirty air filters (this makes a big difference)

🔹 Reality Check on Heat Pumps
Heat pumps are very efficient, but no system is magic when it’s below zero. They’re designed to maintain comfort — not recover quickly from big temperature setbacks in extreme cold.

If your system is running continuously, that doesn’t mean it’s broken — it often means it’s doing exactly what it’s designed to do in these conditions.

📞 If you’re unsure whether your system is operating properly or have concerns about comfort, give us a call — we’re happy to help.

❄️Snowy Weather Heating Tip❄️

With all this snow and cold temps, please take a quick moment to check your heating systems, outdoor vents and exhaust pipe pipes.

Make sure they are clear of snow, ice and debris – blocked vents can cause your system to shut down or even trigger safety issues.

❄️A quick shovel out now can save you from:
🚨 No heat at the worst time.
🚨 Emergency Service Calls.
🚨Carbon monoxide risks

As a result of our fall promotion, Viking Mechanical presented Assabet Valley Technical School with a check for $1,220.00. These funds were donated by the generosity of our customers who opted to donate their fall savings to the students.

The instructors of the HVAC department then created the Viking Mechanical Tool Schloarhsip. This schloarship was open to all graduating seniors who are currently employed by an HVAC/R company and who are planning to work in the field after graduation.

The top 3 receipents were as follows:
Samantha Savoie (Viking Mechanical), Amber Kerouac (Larkin/Hathaway), and Noah Yazdani (Charles River Lab). Runners up included; Lucas Desouza (Dimello Co.), and Charles Morse IV of (N & T Mechanical).

Our sincere congratulations to all of the students and a special thanks to Mr. Cook. Mr. Gilchrest & Mr. McKee for making this possible.
