The Zap “Z” got a fresh coat of paint this year thanks to HTI, who donated the project as a way to give back to the community.
As a Beulah-based company that works alongside the coal-fired power plants, mines, and businesses that help power our region, HTI is proud to support the communities we call home.
For HTI Regional Manager Ben Mathern, this project was about more than repainting a landmark. It was an opportunity to continue a tradition of community pride inspired by his mentor, Cliff Schaan, who helped maintain the Z in years past and instilled the importance of giving back. Huge thanks to Blake Dschaak, Ray Harrington, Omar Tavarez and Jessica Jacquez for their hard work also on this!
This year’s project was also completed in loving memory of Barb Bohrer, who called Zap home for more than 30 years. Barb’s kindness, involvement, and love for her community touched many lives. With her husband, Randy, continuing to call Zap home, honoring Barb through a project in a place she loved felt especially meaningful.
Community, legacy, and giving back—this project represents all three. We’re grateful for the opportunity to help preserve a local landmark while honoring the people who helped make Zap the special community it is today.
