When you think about what makes a great leader, Kevin Stark comes to mind. As a Construction Supervisor at NANA Construction, Kevin embodies leadership with grit, respect, and forward-thinking action.
Recently, Kevin completed the NANAtkut Leadership Acceleration Program—a milestone that underscores his commitment to growth. This eight-month program was created to cultivate leadership rooted in NANA’s Iñupiat Iḷitqusiat values, preparing leaders like Kevin to drive our mission forward while staying true to our cultural foundation.
Fred Elvsaas, General Manager at NANA Construction, knows what it takes to make a project successful—and Kevin has proven time and again that he’s the kind of leader you want at the helm.
“Great leaders are those people who, when you put them on a project, the project goes well. That’s Kevin. He’s the type of leader who sets a steady tone, anticipates challenges before they arise, and brings out the best in every member of his team. What really stands out about Kevin is how he treats people—with respect and fairness, no matter their role. From the person sweeping the floors to the superintendent managing our largest projects, Kevin makes everyone feel valued and part of the team. That kind of leadership doesn’t just lead to successful projects—it creates a culture of trust and collaboration.”
Kevin’s leadership isn’t confined to job titles or accolades—it’s evident in how he tackles challenges head-on and inspires those around him. Recently, he led an effort to implement advanced technology at NANA Construction. These innovations are set to drastically change the way projects are executed, streamlining efficiency and raising the bar for performance across the board.
Programs like NANAtkut exist because of people like Kevin—leaders who are ready to elevate their skills, make an impact, and build a stronger future for NANA and our communities. The program brought together participants from across our family of companies, strengthening collaboration and shared purpose.
Congratulations, Kevin, on this well-deserved achievement. We’re proud to have leaders like you shaping the future of our organization.
