Happy Monday!

This week we are highlighting Principal, Jason A. Partain, P.E.!

Jason Partain joined MBA Engineers in February 2016 and has experience in structural engineering design, forensics, and condition assessments for single and multi-family residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial structures. His experience includes projects located in various regions of the United States with a wide variety of site-specific load demands (e.g. high wind, high seismic). Mr. Partain’s structural experience includes designed steel, concrete, masonry, cold-formed steel building but his focus is wood framed buildings. His design of the Habiframe, Inc. wood-framed residential tornado storm shelter was awarded the US Wood Design Awards Juror’s Choice Award in 2014. He also served as the Structural Engineer of Record for the first CLT project (Jones Valley Teaching Farm) located in Birmingham, Alabama. Jason has also been active in engineering standards work, primarily related to wood design, and has published articles in both regional and national publications.

We’d like to welcome Matthew Angwin to the MBA Geotechnical Division as Project Manager. He assists, manages, and executes geotechnical and construction material testing projects. With over three years of experience as a technical supervisor, Matt is responsible for both communicating with all parties on projects, as well as maintain a high level of quality control for laboratory and CMT processes. We have expanded our leadership team to include Drew Thornbury, P.E., who has joined the firm as the Geotechnical Principal. Drew started the MBA Geotechnical Division in 2020 and has 15 years of progressive responsibility in managing geotechnical and construction material testing projects. He is responsible for management and engineering from design through construction including coordination and communication with clients, municipalities, contractors, and sub-contractors, preparing project scope and budget, developing field investigations and laboratory testing programs, completing engineering analyses and preparing and reviewing technical reports.
