Our Transmission team is growing across Alabama and Georgia, and we’re adding Journeyman Linemen to crews working throughout both states.

Transmission work asks a lot of the people who do it. Every structure, every pull and every energized task is built on safety, precision and trust in the crew beside you. These roles are for experienced journeymen who bring that standard to every job and want to build their careers with a team that’s in it for the long haul.

Justin Genitempo is an A-class lineman on Zero's crew at Cobb EMC, and he came to Gridco looking for the right place to build his career. He's already found it.

Day to day, Justin is in the bucket, making up material and doing the work the right way. He's been putting in the time, and it shows. Since joining the team he's earned his A-class, and that kind of growth is exactly what Gridco is built around.

When it comes to why he works safe every day, Justin keeps it close to home. He's got a wife and a new baby counting on him, and making it back to them is what drives him. At Gridco, that's not something he has to fight for. Safety is built into how we operate, and Justin knew coming in that he landed in the right place for it.

Sunny skies and 75 degrees made for a picture-perfect day at Compass Meridian yesterday, and an even better chance to see how far the work has come.

Our crews, led onsite by Dion Duffey, have demonstrated excellence in executing on this substation project thus far through safe work practices, quality workmanship, managing site logistics and effective coordination with our customers and contract partners. Those results show up in the field, with crews who look out for each other and a commitment to getting the job done right the first time.

Last month, our fiber team spent the week on a railroad bore in Albany, Georgia, working beneath active rail lines to get fiber where it needs to go without disrupting operations above.

Last month, our testing team wrapped up assembly and testing on a transformer as an authorized service provider, work that requires exact calibration and sign-off before a single unit goes back into service.

It's detailed work that doesn't get much attention, but it's exactly the kind of precision our crews take seriously every time. When that equipment gets energized, it has to perform. Our team makes sure it does.

"Everybody tries. Everybody does what they're supposed to do, when they're supposed to do it, how they're supposed to do it. Good attitudes. I don't have to make them go to work. They do it on their own."

That's how line foreman Greg "Zero" Jones describes his crew. And coming from someone with 31 years in the trade, that's not something he says lightly.

Zero came to Gridco after three decades in the field. It was a big move, but the people around him made it easy to stand behind.

"They really treated me like family even before I even started. Just over the phone. It's been a life-changing blessing for me."

As a foreman, Zero's day starts before the trucks ever roll out. Planning the work, lining everything up, making sure his guys are working safe. It's a job that demands a lot, but he'll tell you the weight of it feels different here.

"I used to spend all Sunday afternoon thinking about what Monday was going to be like. Wasted energy. I don't have that kind of stress level here. It makes working more enjoyable."

Zero isn't just here to run jobs. He's here to help his guys grow and train the next generation of foremen.

"I want to help the guys on the crew further their careers for them and their families. Help this company grow into the best company to work for."

When severe weather hits, our people show up.

Since Friday, October 9, more than 500 Gridco personnel have been on the ground supporting storm restoration across Alabama and Georgia. From Huntsville to Mobile, from the mountains of Northeast Georgia to Columbus, our distribution, fiber and lighting crews have all been part of the response. Our crews are still active in the Brewton area, supporting Alabama Power as restoration continues.

Beyond the field work, our teams have been providing damage assessment and crew leadership while coordinating directly with Alabama Power’s Distribution Control Center on system switching to keep operations moving and reduce delays.

That coordination made a real difference on Monday, October 12. An outage hit a hospital in Mobile, home to the only Level I trauma center on the Gulf Coast. One of our damage assessors had the riser re-fused and service restored within 15 minutes of the outage being reported.

15 minutes. That’s what preparation, experience and the right people in the right place make possible.

Data center growth doesn't wait for standard timelines, and the infrastructure behind it can't either.

Our substation crew wrapped up several projects, and the feedback that came back said it all: safe, professional and neat work, handled on time across the board.

Recognition like that doesn't come from one good day. It comes from crews who show up with the same standard every time, on every job, regardless of who's watching.
