She picked up a power drill for the first time 8 years ago, and magic happened. Her down-to-earth attitude makes us truly believe that if she can do it, we can too. And we appreciate her collection of inspiring graphic tees she always wears. She truly does “make pretty things with power tools.”

Rachel Bergsma is making history in Saskatchewan, Canada. She’s the kind of Maker who, when realizing her knives in her kitchen drawer were dangerous and disorganized, she didn’t buy a knife block. She MADE one. Boundless creativity, a great sense of humor, and intelligent craftsmanship, she is one of our favorite woodworking IG accounts. She is usually braving ridiculously cold temps (like 10 degrees Fahrenheit), and still cranks out inspiring custom pieces.

Our first Present Day bad ass Female Woodworker we are excited to highlight is . Char Miller-King says, “At first glance, you would look at me and not even think that I do what I do and love what I do so much. And that is important because I bring a different flavor, different thoughts, and different perspective to this space [the woodworking industry].” A mom of four, Char is a passionate wood shop teacher who has found her calling with students, empowering people with creativity and power tools.

🤫SNEAK PEEK🤯

We are deconstructing buildings in the Muscoda Mining Village in Bessemer, AL. In 1902, architects designed and built two schools, a church, medical dispensary, doctor’s house, teachers’ cottage, and workers’ housing. Within a few years, 3500 people lived in the community. The Muscoda Mines were the largest red ore mines in the Birmingham District through the 1950s.
