Today, we are shining a light on our Civil Engineering/Level 1 Inspector Intern, Antonio, because it marks one year since he began his internship at SARCOR! 👏

The UAB - The University of Alabama at Birmingham student is building quite the resume as he plays an integral role in supporting projects ranging from civil/site designs, stormwater drainage systems, residential developments, and more.

We are excited to share that our leader will be a panelist at this year’s Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) Annual DBE Conference! This year’s theme is Winner’s Mentality: From Mindset to Mastery. The conference will bring together roughly 200 industry leaders for a day packed with sessions targeting growth, sustainability, and leadership.

Our President and CEO, Selena Rodgers Dickerson, will be part of the Women in Construction: The Winner’s Circle panel discussion. We can’t wait for her to share all of her knowledge and experience. As students return to the classroom this week, we are reminded of our time with a special group of interns. The trio of college scholars stopped by our office as part of their internship with the City of Birmingham Government.

They were able to see firsthand how working for a municipality can differ from working at a privately owned firm.

During their visit, they toured our office and then received one-on-one time with our President and CEO, Selena Rodgers Dickerson . They got to ask plenty of questions about how we conduct business and the complexity of our projects.

Our firm jumps at the opportunity to pour into our youth. Thank you to the City of Birmingham for choosing SARCOR to be part of their learning experience. We wish them much success as they return to campus to continue their education.

This time last week, we had just wrapped up our time with Dr. Shakenna Williams, Executive Director of the Babson Frank & Eileen Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership.

The colleague and friend of our President and CEO, Selena Rodgers Dickerson, is seeking ways to expand the institution’s entrepreneurship programming to the Magic City. As a business owner herself, our leader knows firsthand the importance of gaining knowledge from industry experts. She quickly jumped into action to connect Dr. Williams with leaders already paving the way here in Birmingham.

Our firm is so grateful to the City of Birmingham: Office of Business Diversity & Opportunity, Birmingham Business Alliance, Entrepreneurship Center, Synovus Bank , Network Navigator, and business owners for joining the discussion. It was a pleasure to host you all!
