📍Where did our IISE members intern this summer?
Our members have been making an impact this summer through internships across a variety of industries. Follow along to see where they interned and hear about their journeys!
“I am interning in the Engineering Department at Lenzing in Nanjing. As a first-year engineering student, I mainly support the team by assisting with project coordination and engineering tasks. I use Excel to help with cost controlling by applying concepts from my Engineering Economy course, learn Microsoft Project to analyze engineering projects using Gantt charts, and create 2D CAD drawings with Autodesk. I also prepare meeting minutes as the department secretary and occasionally join site inspections to learn how different areas of the company operate and how engineering projects are coordinated across departments.“
“This summer, I am helping launch a new product by developing a manufacturing process from the ground up for a product that is new to both the customer and Duravex. My primary project is designing the physical production line, including workstation layouts, assembly sequencing, material flow, tooling placement, and facility layout to support full-scale production. I also analyze takt time, balance labor, and optimize parallel operations to maximize efficiency. I have been working closely with the customer and cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and the site and production teams, to take the production system from concept to launch.”
“This summer, I’m interning at Lockheed Martin’s Valley Forge site as a Systems Engineer Intern on the Datalinks team! My work centers on verifying and validating Link 16 integration into an aerospace platform, basically making sure critical communication systems work exactly as they should. Recently, our team kicked off a brand-new project, giving me a front-row seat to what it takes to launch one from scratch, from writing requirements to digging into military standards.“
“Working within the Global Technical Services division in support of the Central Engineering team, I have been involved in impactful projects from the start of my internship. Through initiatives such
