with freezing and below freezing temperatures in the forecast here's a couple things to remember.
1: leave faucets trickling over night and cabinet doors under sinks open allowing heat in to help avoid pipes freezing
2: Do not shut off heat- set at 55-60 degrees if you are not going to be home
3: make sure batteries in thermostats have been changed so heat does not fail
4: if it's a hot air system- check and make sure air filter is clean
If not, replace it

WE DONT SEE THIS EVERYDAY.......

1920's coal fired steam boiler converted to oil in the 1940's. Entire boiler and piping covered with 3" asbestos insulation and the fire box in the boiler is lined with asbestos fire bricks. Rob is developing a plan to convert the system to natural gas, asbestos removal, boiler replacement, 1000 gallon oil tank removal, natural gas service & meter upgrade, chimney alteration, and add a control system that will cumulatively save the owner up to 50% annually for utility cost to heat the building.

Not a lot of steam systems around anymore. Customer is very happy to have heat on the first real cold day of this winter and to get rid of the oil system Call Norman Mechanical Services for an old school job at a good price.
