Last Week, the Indiana Supreme Court ruled in favor of monopoly utility companies on how solar owners will be credited post net metering. This ruling does not impact those who are grandfathered into net metering until their net metering comes to an end (in either 2032 or 2047). But, this does greatly reduce the value of exporting power back onto the grid for new solar customers.

Have no fear! If the utilities don't want to fairly compensate their customers for solar energy, we can install energy storage to keep as much of that clean solar power on site as possible. The major electric utilities are heralding this decision as a major win, but this decision will only increase the scale of grid defection as people look to use the utilities' electric networks as little as possible and be more self-reliant with solar + storage. https://indianacapitalchronicle.com/2023/01/09/solar-opinion-undermines-growing-industry/

Here we have a 24 panel "starter system". The 30% federal tax credit provided by the Inflation Reduction Act can be used each year, allowing homeowners to add more panels, battery storage, EV chargers (for electric vehicles), and other improvements in the following years.
In this case, with a SolarEdge 11.4kW inverter, this home could easily add 10 more Panasonic panels next year, to take this 8.64kW system to 12.24kW. Down the road they could add battery storage or an EV charger, and qualify for the 30% ITC each time.

At Whole Sun Designs we can custom design a system to fit your home or business special circumstances.This system required that we work around many skylights and spread the panel arrays across three roof planes and two buildings, and did a beautiful job!
With a total of 41 Panasonic 360 W premium panels, each with a SolarEdge S440 optimizer to maximize performance for each individual panel, all feeding DC power to a SolarEdge 11.4kW inverter, this system will produce just over 18,000kWh of AC power in a year, or about 1,223 kWh/kW annually.

Here we have a home with a 10.08kW system. With 28 Panasonic 360W panels, each running at optimal capacity with their SolarEdge P370 optimizers that feed power to the SolarEdge 10kW inverter, this system will produce just over 13,000kWh each year, or 1,320 kWh/kW.

We work with homeowners to design systems that fit their energy consumption. Whether it is a large or small system, each is tailored to the individual's needs.
For this home, installed a 12.96 kW system which will produce almost 16,000 kWh each year, or about 1,200 kWh/kW. There are 36 Panasonic 360 watt panels, each with a SolarEdge P370 optimizer, that feed sun energy to two SolarEdge 7600 kW inverters that convert DC to AC energy the home can use. ☀️
