A Variable Refrigerant Volume (VRV) system (also called Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF)) requires more detailed maintenance than a normal split system because it has multiple indoor units, electronic expansion valves, communication boards, and large refrigerant networks. 1. Indoor Units
• Clean or replace air filters
• Clean evaporator coils
• Inspect blower motors and fans
• Check condensate drains and pumps
• Verify temperature sensors and EEV operation
2. Outdoor Condenser
• Clean condenser coils
• Inspect compressors
• Check fan motors and blades
• Verify pressures, superheat, and subcooling
3. Refrigerant System
• Inspect for refrigerant leaks
• Check branch selector boxes
• Verify refrigerant charge
4. Electrical & Controls
• Tighten electrical connections
• Check communication wiring
• Inspect control boards and inverter drives
5. System Diagnostics
• Check error codes and fault history
• Verify indoor unit communication
• Confirm zone operation
6. Operational Test
• Run system in cooling and heating
• Verify compressor modulation
• Confirm proper airflow and temperature split
