This is BIG – BIG Foundation Part 1️⃣

There has been significant progress on Metalex Manufacturing, Inc. new 6-axis Droop+Rein portal machining center from Starrag. The pictures are “just” the foundation for the machine vs. the actual machine being assembled in Germany. It is one of largest foundations ever poured in the US for a CNC machine. Cannot wait to see the machine being installed in this foundation. To meet their customer’s current and future requirements, Metalex works hard to improve its capability every day. As a result Metalex is investing in this expanded capacity and capability to produce high-quality complex parts for a wide range of market leaders in the , , , and Generation industries.

Welding Wednesday: Metalex's exceptional team of skilled welders are AWS, NavSea and NADCAP certified, with expertise in MIG and TIG welding of aluminum, stainless steel, bronze, titanium and other exotic alloys to meet each customer's unique weld certification requirements for aerospace, space, energy, science and marine welding applications. Turnkey welded fabrications include in-house fabrication, stress relieving, and post-weld straightening and blasting.

Metalex recently added a new WFL heavy duty millturn to our line-up of high performance CNC machines. The WFL M85-4500 was added to expand our turning and milling capacity for shafts in the popular 4m length with 1,100mm swing. This M85 gives us a second option to the WFL M120 we installed several years ago. Both WFL’s are multifunctional millturns with features that allow for machining of tight tolerance, complex parts. Features such as multiple programmable steady rests, programmable tailstock, high pressure coolant, and several software enhancements to the Siemens 840D CNC controls. With two large WFL millturns Metalex has more technology and schedule flexibility than ever to handle your complex shaft machining needs.
