Oahe Electric will be closed today, Memorial Day, as we take time to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country.

We pause to reflect on their courage, dedication, and the freedoms their service has helped protect.

Our office will resume normal business hours tomorrow, May 26.

If you, a family member, or someone you know has previously received electric service from Oahe Electric, we encourage you to review our unclaimed capital credits list to see if a check may be waiting for you.

Please take a moment to look through the list and help us spread the word by sharing this post. Our goal is to ensure these funds make it to their rightful owners.

On May 20, 1936, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Rural Electrification Act, helping bring electricity to isolated rural communities across America.

In the face of limited access to power, friends and neighbors came together to create a new kind of utility—electric cooperatives—built by the people, for the people. Their shared vision helped transform rural life and ensured that every voice mattered.

When others wouldn’t serve rural America, electric cooperatives answered the call.

Today, 90 years later, electric cooperatives continue that mission with the same commitment to the members and communities we serve. Beyond providing reliable, affordable energy, we are dedicated to improving quality of life, supporting local growth, and powering a brighter future for generations to come.

We’re proud to carry on this legacy of service, community, and connection.
