Proud to highlight our award-winning work with on Northport Meadows in Port Elgin, Ontario this week!

This façade reads with the depth, variation, and character of traditional stonework — on a precast concrete substrate.

The mortar joints, face texture, and dimensional profile were cast directly into the panels using formliner. Certified Nawkaw technicians then applied our proprietary stain to the raw precast surface, building tonal separation between the stone face and mortar plane.

The result: a precast façade with controlled color variation, architectural depth, and long-term mineral-stain performance.

The mortar joints, the face texture, the dimensional depth — that is cast directly into the panel via formliner. What you are seeing is the result of a certified Nawkaw technician applying proprietary mineral silicate stain to raw precast substrate.

Tonal variance is calculated and applied in deliberate sequence — separating the brick face from the mortar plane — until the building envelope reads as traditional masonry at every scale of observation.

Old brick meets new brick. 🧱

When a building undergoes repairs or structural updates, "infill" brick is used to patch the gaps. But because of varying clay batches, firing temperatures, and years of natural weathering, the new brick almost never matches the original—leaving behind an obvious, staggered mismatch.

So, how do you fix it without tearing out structurally sound masonry?
Instead of using heavy paints that trap moisture and cause spalling, architectural staining provides a scientific solution. The stain penetrates deep into the pores of the masonry to unify the old and new brick. This process corrects the color discrepancy while keeping the building envelope fully breathable—preserving the natural texture and ensuring the finish won't chip, peel, or fade over time.

This residence was transformed from traditional red brick to a refined, multi-tonal white using Nawkaw’s proprietary mineral stain system. Applied brick by brick by our certified technicians, the finish integrates with the masonry rather than coating it—preserving the natural texture while creating a breathable, lasting color transformation.

Nearly 4,000 square feet of brick was carefully recolored to achieve a balanced, architectural finish that brightens the home while maintaining the character of the original façade.

Look at the difference a hand-applied, multi-tonal finish makes.

Before our work, the brick is uniform and static. By hand-staining individual bricks to create a tailored, varied pattern, the final result is anything but.
