Chamber Stop-In: Tennessee Electric Motor
A restored neon sign from the 1940s now hangs inside Tennessee Electric Motor Co.’s Bon Aqua facility, linking nearly 90 years of company history with a new chapter in Hickman County.
We had the opportunity to tour the shop to visit with Greg Johnson, VP/Shop Manager, and see how much goes into keeping electric motors working across a wide range of industries. Founded in Nashville in 1936, Tennessee Electric Motor moved into its new Bon Aqua facility in 2025.
The work is highly technical and hands-on. Employees disassemble, test electrical and mechanical components, machine parts, balance rotors, rewind coils, and rebuild motors for continued service. The company also works with pumps, gearboxes, and new motors, serving customers across the country.
The Bon Aqua location currently employs several people who live within a short drive of the facility, and the company understands the importance of training the next generation in essential trades.
Tennessee Electric Motor Co. is located at 10364 Industrial Blvd., Bon Aqua, TN 37025
