The data is in. EPS recycling infrastructure across North America is real, it's working, and it's growing. 🌱

New independent research from Resource Recycling Systems shows expanded polystyrene transport packaging is being recycled at a 31% rate across North America. All Atlas Molded Products plants serve as recycling drop off locations, helping drive that number higher.

The circular economy for polystyrene isn't a concept, it's already operational. Read more from Justin Riney, Chair of PSRA, at PlasticsToday: https://www.plasticstoday.com/materials/polystyrene-recycling-infrastructure-proves-functional-across-north-america

Congratulations to the JB Green Team on an incredible milestone! 🎉

In April 2025, Jefferson and Belmont Counties in Ohio made history as the first counties in the state to install Foam Cycle, LLC foam packaging recycling system for EPS. The JB Green Team has since recycled over 18,461 pounds of densified foam - diverting the equivalent of approximately 18 fully loaded 30-yard containers from landfills.

Our very own Bob Dever has worked alongside the team in Ohio helping facilitate the expansion of EPS recycling in local communities, because when industry and community partners work together, EPS can be truly circular.

Thank you for being great partners in helping our planet 🌍

In April 2025, the JB Green Team, representing the combined recycling efforts of Jefferson and Belmont Counties in Ohio, became the first counties in Ohio to install the patented Foam Cycle foam packaging recycling system for expanded polystyrene (EPS), commonly known as Styrofoam.

Based in Steubenville, Ohio, the JB Green Team is led by Executive Director Anita Petrella, whose vision helped bring a much-needed foam recycling solution to local residents.

At the program's launch event, attended by local officials, residents, and media, one attendee stood out: Bob Dever of Atlas Molded Products.

Bob's participation was noteworthy because he represented one of the most influential companies in the EPS industry. Atlas Molded Products is among the nation's largest manufacturers of expanded polystyrene products, operating 15 manufacturing facilities in the US, along with 1 in Mexico and 3 in Canada.

Bob's presence at the event demonstrated what can happen when industry, government, and local communities work together to keep valuable materials in circulation and out of our landfills.
Speaking to the crowd that day, Bob summed up his philosophy perfectly:

"If it's good for the environment and the EPS industry, it's good for Atlas Molded Products. And if it's good for Atlas Molded Products, it's good for Bob Dever. That's what motivates me."

That philosophy reflects the collaborative spirit that has helped Foam Cycle grow. Success in recycling comes from partnerships, shared goals, and people willing to invest their time and energy in solutions that benefit everyone involved.

Fast forward 14 months, and the JB Green Team's foam recycling program has produced remarkable results.

To date, the program has accumulated 18,461 pounds of densified foam, equivalent to approximately 18 fully loaded 30-yard roll-off containers of loose foam packaging that otherwise would have been buried in a landfill.

With support from Bob Dever and Atlas Molded Products, the densified foam was transported to manufacturers, where it will be recycled into new products.

The sale generated more than $2,700 in revenue, which will be returned to the JB Green Team to support and expand its recycling programs.

This is a perfect example of the circular economy in action: residents recycle, local government provides the infrastructure, industry helps create end markets, valuable materials remain in circulation, landfill space is preserved, and recycling programs generate revenue that can be reinvested back into the community.

That is what a true win-win looks like.

Sustainability and performance. No compromise.

Atlas has launched ReGenX™ Technology - a breakthrough in material science that closes the loop on product life cycles by turning used materials into new, high-performance recycled content products. All Atlas DuraTherm® insulated shippers are now manufactured with ReGenX Technology, delivering 30% recycled content at no added cost to customers.

Here's how it works: Internal plant scrap and end-of-life materials are collected, sorted, densified, and processed using advanced reclamation and reforming technology into a new recycled resin. That resin is molded into products that meet or exceed the strength, durability, and quality of virgin materials.

The result: circular cold chain packaging and insulation solutions that reduce waste and emissions, support ESG goals, and keep materials out of landfills.

ReGenX Technology is proof that you do not have to sacrifice performance to improve sustainability by creating smarter, circular solutions that benefit businesses, consumers, and the planet alike.

Did you know EPS holds its shape, even under the most demanding conditions?

Dimensional stability is the ability of a material to maintain its original dimensions when exposed to temperature changes and humidity. For insulation, it's the difference between a product that performs for years and one that doesn't.

ThermalStar® insulation is tested for 7 days at both 158°F with 97% humidity and -40°F with ambient humidity, meeting the dimensional stability requirements of ASTM C578.

Built to last. Built to hold.

Heavy loads? Unstable ground? Geofoam cuts the stakes.

While we were at the International Roofing Expo this year we caught up with Matt Olsen, Product Manager at Atlas Molded Products, to chat about Elevation Geofoam solutions and the advantages of lightweight engineered fill for modern construction applications.

06/09/2026

Did you know the air around you is 21% oxygen?

That number matters more than you'd think when it comes to building materials.

The Oxygen Index measures the minimum concentration of oxygen a material needs to maintain combustion. A higher index means a material is harder to keep burning. A lower index means the opposite.

Atlas EPS products are formulated with fire retardants to meet a minimum oxygen index of 24%, exceeding what's present in atmospheric air. ThermalStar® insulation meets ASTM C578. Elevation® Geofoam meets ASTM D6817.

That's not a coincidence. That's by design.

The finished landscape looks great, but what's underneath it matters just as much.

Elevation® Geofoam is a lightweight engineered fill used in berms, plaza decks, built-up slabs, and land forming applications. It weighs approximately 1/100th the weight of soil, reduces structural load, and installs faster than traditional fill without sacrificing stability or performance.

Dimensionally stable and custom cut to any layout, it's HFC-free, recyclable, and meets ASTM D6817, backed by a 10-year warranty. Because a great finished project starts long before the landscaping does. Learn more at https://bit.ly/3RiMRp8
