Shepherd Mountain is shaping up in a big way for 2026, and with Phase Two nearing completion, thereās truly a reason for just about every rider to make a trip to Arcadia Valley this year.
Whatās happening here now goes way beyond just the downhill park. Our Shepherd Mountain Lake campus is becoming its own destination, with the 2.2-mile Lourwood Trail ready for hiking and exploring, plus a 2.3-mile XC loop tucked behind it to help you stretch your legs and spin out some miles. Right in the middle of that loop is an intro gravity zone for riders who want to get a feel for descending before dropping into the main park. Hardtails are more than welcome there.
Near the Lourwood Trail, the new skills park is also just about ready to open, and weāve got one more trail going in that will connect the Hub to the Lake with an easier climb option. Little by little, this place is turning into a full riding campus where families, newer riders, XC riders, and gravity junkies can all find their lane.
Over at the main park, if you havenāt been here in a while, things look different.
Check-in and merch have moved to the main park, parking has been dramatically expanded, and we added Mini Mongo ā our new side-by-side shuttle rig for getting smaller groups up the mountain quicker and easier.
And on the downhill side, weāve been busy. Hurricane opened last year, built through a strong community effort with Loki and TrelCru, and itās gotten rave reviews ever since... along with a few pedal strikes just to keep everybody humble.
Now for the one that still feels a little hard to say out loud: pre-opening this weekend is a brand new GREEN downhill line. Yes, at Shepherd. Yes, really. Turns out it is possible. TrelCru nailed it!
Donāt worry ā we havenāt gone soft. Shepherd is still the technical mountain you know and love, with 600+ feet of elevation, steep rock, real consequence, and the kind of trails that make you earn your confidence. But now there are more ways to build into that experience, more reasons to bring friends and family, and more reasons to make a full trip out of Arcadia Valley.
Thatās what makes this season feel special. Weāre not replacing what makes Shepherd, Shepherd. Weāre building around it. More access. More progression. More reasons to come ride, hike, explore, and stay awhile.
