"The prospect of new natural gas pipelines seems low in the current political and economic climate as major infrastructure projects took it on the chin last week. Judicial actions stopped the Dakota Access and Keystone XL pipelines, and developers canceled the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. Growing electrification of the economy will boost power demand by up to 50% according to the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI).

Will this combination of stagnant supply lines and increased demand result in higher prices? Forbes reports that natural gas demand is holding steady in the current pandemic, and that the fuel will continue to dominate power generation, even at double or triple current prices. EPRI models indicate increased gas demand under all scenarios."

Let's be clear: COVID-19 is a temporary calamity. And you should know that U.S. oil and natural gas demand is as resilient of a reality as anything that we have in our energy-environment discussion.
