The Boston Taiwanese Biotechnology Association is founded by a group of postdoctoral fellows and graduate students to bridge this gap and promote networking and collaboration opportunities. Although individually termed "rare," rare diseases collectively account for over 85% of all genetic disorders. The landscape of genetic medicine is evolving at a breathtaking pace—from the world's first customized A*O therapy ("Milasen" in 2019) to the recent monumental leap in personalized in vivo base editing for Baby KJ. These milestones prove that bespoke treatments are finally becoming a reality.
