ONLY TWO MORE DAYS TO APPLY TO WASHU'S PREMIER BIOLOGICAL ENGINEERING TEAM (that we know of)!!!!!!!!!

To entice you to apply, here's some of the rave reviews that last year's gold medal-winning project received:

"Their experiments were guided by a simple and elegant phenomenological model that was parameterized with laboratory data and useful to guide future experiments."
-Judge 1

"The UV light box is a hardware project that can be easily used by many iGEM teams in the future to accomplish mutagenic libraries of a variety of organisms. Kudos on selecting a project that will impact teams for years to come."
-Judge 3

"I learned you guys are in St. Louis!"
-Judge 2

iGEM is an international competition in which hundreds of teams from all over the world conduct original research projects in which they use synthetic biology to solve problems. Through iGEM, you will work with a team of WashU students to design and conduct an original research project over the course of the spring, summer, and fall of 2018. You then get to present your research at the iGEM Giant Jamboree in October, in which all of the teams (from all over the world!!!!) come together to talk about their projects, win awards, and have fun! Last year, our team's project won a gold medal and was also nominated for two of the biggest awards in the competition.

No prior research experience is necessary!

The 2017 WashU iGEM team is thrilled to announce that we were one of the 10 out of 75 US teams to win a gold medal in this year's competition! Additionally, we were nominated for the Best Hardware prize and were one of only five undergraduate teams to be nominated for Best Environmental Project, which is the largest track in the competition! We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who helped out our team, whether it was by donating to our GoFundMe, giving us feedback on our project, or just by putting up with us when we were really stressed out. An extra-special thanks to our incredible mentor, Dr. Janie Brennan, and our lab mom, Eugene Kim--we literally couldn't have done any of this without you.
