Massachusetts municipalities, nonprofits, and housing developers: this is a grant opportunity worth having on your radar! The Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) has announced the relaunch of its Complete Neighborhoods technical assistance program, focused on helping communities and development partners advance affordable housing in walkable, transit-served neighborhoods. As summer winds down, we're looking back on some of the activities that brought our team together outside of the office over the past few months: kayaking on the Charles River, walking a project site on a nice day, lunch outdoors with our Richmond crew, strolling throuhg Boston Common to get an ice cream, connecting with industry peers at the BSLA Summer Social and EBC Garden Party, participating in a sustainability tour in the Boston Seaport, and hiking Mount Watatic.

We hope you find time to get outdoors and enjoy the rest of summer in your communities too!

We're excited to see Boston University's Warren Towers renovation reach a major milestone with the completion of the first renovated tower! As one of the largest residence halls in the country, Warren Towers is undergoing a transformative renovation that will modernize the building while supporting the university's sustainability goals through features such as an all-electric design. Nitsch is proud to be providing civil engineering and land surveying services alongside Miller Dyer Spears Inc. on this project, as well as transportation engineering services for Shawmut Design and Construction.

Congratulations to Boston University and the entire project team on reaching this important achievement!

On August 11, Nitsch helped host the Seaport Walking Tour alongside PwC Boston and Haley & Aldrich through Fan Pier, a waterfront destination we're proud to have helped shape. The tour introduced high school and college students to careers in AEC, with discussions focused on sustainability and resilience. We're grateful for the opportunity to support an event that helps inspire the next generation of AEC professionals!

Last week, we partnered with COAA Virginia and Skanska USA for a hard hat tour of the University of Virginia's Manning Institute of Biotechnology, where owners, designers, and builders shared insights into the challenges and collaboration required to deliver this highly technical research facility while maintaining operations across the active Fontaine campus.

As the civil and site-structural engineer, Nitsch helped lay the groundwork for construction long before the building began to rise. Our team developed site enabling and early construction packages that included complex utility relocations, major earthwork, site access improvements, and phased infrastructure systems coordinated with multiple occupied buildings, the new Central Energy Plant, and regional utility agencies. Seeing the project take shape was a great reminder of the planning and coordination that make projects of this scale possible.
