"This weekend, the UW Bothell IEEE student branch had the incredible opportunity to tour one of Puget Sound Energy’s key renewable energy projects, the Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility in Ellensburg.

We visited the Renewable Energy Center and toured around the facility, learning so much about the inner workings of wind turbines and even stepping inside a few! This experience has truly deepened our understanding of renewable energy technologies.

Special thanks to Dr. Mahmoud Ghofrani for making this possible and to the amazing team at the facility for their insightful tour. Lastly, thanks to Joe Decuir for being our faculty chaperone!

Earlier this month, Dr. Ghofrani proposed our student branch to do this tour, so I organized it and we took advantage of that opportunity."

🎉 Kicking Off the School Year with UW Bothell IEEE! 🎉

We just had our first event to kick off the school year, and it was wonderful! A huge shoutout to Evan Mayfield and Aarón Guerrero for planning this fantastic event. Special kudos to Aarón for capturing the moments with his amazing photography skills. 📸

A big thank you to the UW Bothell Club Council for their invaluable support in guiding us through the setup process. And a special thanks to IEEE Seattle Section Chair Sanjay Samuel for stopping by and showing his support.

We had a great time getting to know each other and had some friendly competition playing Kahoot. Congratulations to our three Kahoot finalists who walked away with prizes! 🏆

Looking forward to more exciting events this year! 🚀

On Tuesday the 18th, Professor Joe Decuir will be hosting a talk on the standard such as USB and Ethernet and how they work. In Joe's long career in industry, he's played a role in creating many of the USB standards as well as many of the Bluetooth standards. This will be the first of a 2 part series in the talks Joe will give us for Talking Time Tuesday. Next week on the 25th, he will be presenting again on wireless networking standards such as Bluetooth and WIFI. So if you're ever curious about how these mysterious communication technologies work, come join us!
