Jonah Ventures provides environmental DNA services to scientists and citizen scientists for research and education. The possibilities of eDNA are endless!

We offer eDNA kits and analysis to source-track, detect rare or invasive species, and reconstruct assemblages and animal diets. Environmental DNA (eDNA) is DNA that has been shed by organisms into the environment in the form of f***s, skin cells, mucus, or fur. By taking a sample of substrate, such as water, soil, air, or snow and sequencing out the DNA, scientists can detect the organism without

having to see it visually. This is especially useful for rare, invasive, or cryptic species, and provides an effective, efficient way to survey for many different taxa at once. Discover the plants your bees are visiting, reconstruct aquatic assemblages, dive into the mysteries of what animals eat, find invasive, cryptic or rare species, or uncover the source of bacterial contamination.
