Montanans have always believed in being prepared.

Whether it's stacking firewood before winter...
Maintaining equipment before it breaks...
Or planning next year's operations before this season ends...

Preparation is simply part of life here.

We see energy the same way.

Energy independence doesn't have to mean living off-grid, although it can.
For many businesses and homeowners, it simply means creating options, improving resilience, and reducing dependence on things outside your control.

That's a Montana mindset.

Solar isn't really about sunshine.
It's about predictability.

Every business owner knows uncertainty makes planning difficult.

While no one can control future utility rates, generating some of your own electricity can help create more consistency over time.

That's why more Montana businesses are viewing energy as infrastructure—not just another monthly expense.

Solar doesn't solve every challenge.
But it can help you take greater control over one of them.

Your biggest business expense over the next 30 years might be the one you're planning for the least.
Most organizations budget for payroll.
They budget for equipment.
They budget for insurance.
But very few have a long-term energy strategy.

As electricity demand continues to grow, energy is becoming more than just another monthly utility bill. It's becoming a business planning decision.

The businesses that prepare now won't just reduce costs.
They'll create more certainty.

At OnSite Energy, we believe commercial solar isn't about predicting the future.
It's about being prepared for it.

Summer in Montana brings longer days, beautiful weather… and sometimes unpredictable storms, wildfire risk, and power outages.

More homeowners, ranchers, and businesses across Montana are starting to think proactively about energy resilience — not just convenience.

From backup generators to solar + battery storage systems, reliable power can help keep critical systems running during outages, including:
⚡ Water well pumps
⚡ Refrigeration
⚡ Internet & communications
⚡ Security systems
⚡ Essential business equipment

One recent homeowner we worked with wanted peace of mind knowing their family could still access water during wildfire season if the grid went down. Together, we designed a solar + battery backup system built to keep essential systems running when it mattered most.

Preparing before peak summer weather arrives can make all the difference.

At OnSite Energy, solar has always been about more than producing clean electricity.

It's about strengthening resilient communities while helping protect the Montana landscapes we all value.

That's why we're proud to support organizations like Habitat for Humanity of Missoula, where solar energy and high-efficiency infrastructure are creating more sustainable, affordable housing opportunities for local families.

That same commitment inspired our Solar for Conservation initiative, which partners with conservation organizations and Montana property owners dedicated to the long-term stewardship of our land, water, and wildlife habitat through renewable energy.

For many Montana landowners, energy independence and conservation aren't separate goals—they go hand in hand.

💡 Staff Spotlight: Meet Will, our Missolua Field Operations Manager.

Will’s connection to solar started early.

“When I was five years old, my brother came home from 4H camp with four solar cells taped to a piece of cardboard powering a little motor. I was hooked.”

Before joining OnSite Energy full time, Will built homes, worked in metal fabrication, owned a restaurant near Glacier, and crafted high-end custom homes across Montana.

Today, as our Field Operations Manager in Missoula, he helps oversee projects that support resilient energy systems for homes, businesses, and communities throughout western Montana.

Outside of work, Will and his family spend their time chasing cross country meets, rafting rivers, climbing mountains, and running a hiker hostel in East Glacier for Continental Divide Trail thru-hikers.

We’re grateful to have people like Will on our team who care deeply about craftsmanship, sustainability, and the communities we serve.

Solar Sips at Mountains Walking in Montana ☀️☕

Some of the OnSite team recently gathered for one of their favorite traditions—Solar Sips. Funds earned through copper wire recycling are reinvested back into the crew, turning recycled materials into a chance to connect, recharge, and celebrate the team's hard work together.

A simple reminder that sustainability and team culture can go hand in hand.

Some projects are about more than energy. ⚡

Panels catching light.
A Montana sky overhead.

And a project built around the idea that strong communities start close to home. 🏠🌄
A little teaser from one of our recent commercial installations that impacts local renters… any guesses what this one might be?

What’s actually driving rising energy costs?

It’s not just one thing—it’s a combination of factors:
✔ Fuel price fluctuations (especially natural gas)
✔ Grid upgrades and infrastructure investment
✔ Increased demand from electrification and growth
✔ More extreme and unpredictable weather
✔ Global energy market volatility

All of these put pressure on pricing—and ultimately show up on your energy bill.
Understanding the “why” is the first step—taking action is the next.

Solar is one of the most effective ways to reduce long-term exposure to rising energy costs.

Let’s start the conversation.
