This kitchen got rebuilt from the block out.

Second photo is where it started. Bare block walls, new framing, and a half wall full of wire and pipe. 🔨

Keep your eye on that half wall. The white pipe running through the middle of it is a drain. Today it’s under the sink. 🚰

Then the walls closed up, with wires hanging where the lights go. Next the cabinets: tall pantry units on one side, uppers on the other. 📐

Here’s the detail that changes the room. Most kitchens stop the backsplash at the cabinets and leave a painted strip above. This one keeps going, all the way to the ceiling and around the window. ✨

And with the sink in the peninsula, whoever’s doing dishes is facing the room, not a wall. 🍽️

Most people only see a new addition once it’s painted. Here’s everything that happens before that. 👀

First photo: ground floor in concrete block, second story framed in wood and wrapped, and the stairs already framed in between the two. 🧱

Second photo: windows and French doors set in the block. Every opening upstairs cut, wrapped, and waiting on its window. 🪟

Third photo is the second floor before the walls close up. Ductwork, plumbing, and wiring all running through open framing. Nobody sees this stage again once the drywall goes up. You live with it every single day. 🔌

The tell on any addition is where the old house meets the new one. Mismatched stucco. A roofline that fights the house. Here, the same yellow runs straight from the original house into the new block, with blue board-and-batten up top. 🎨

Last photo is upstairs now. Ceiling fans, a row of windows down one wall, and a soft aqua accent wall where there used to be open studs. ✨

First photo is the one you’d want to wake up to. Palms, sky, the street out front, through one clean sheet of glass. 🌴

Now look at what was there before. Bars running across the glass, cutting the same view into strips. 👀

Around the side, it was worse. Pitted aluminum frames. Sills full of grit. Frosted glass you couldn’t see through if you wanted to. 🪟

Here’s the thing about old windows: you stop noticing them. You just stop looking out. 💭

So out they came. Every opening cleaned up, new frames set in, and the stucco patched back around the edges. 🔨

Same walls. Same shutters. A completely different view from the inside. ✨

First photo is the whole shower, gone. Walls opened to the framing, ceiling cut back, plumbing sticking out of bare wood. 🏗

Second photo is where the new shower actually got decided. That rectangle of 2x4s between the studs is the niche. The box in the corner is the bench. All of it framed in solid before a single wall went back up. 🔨

Third photo is the vanity wall. Every hole patched and every pipe where the new vanity needed it. Nobody posts this stage. It’s the reason everything hanging on that wall sits right. 📐

Then the tile. Big pieces on the walls. Hex mosaic on the floor and in the niche. A linear drain along the wall instead of a round one in the middle of the floor. 🧱

Here’s what people notice in an old shower without being able to name it: grout. Dozens of lines, and every one of them something to scrub. Bigger tile, fewer lines, less to clean. 👀

Now go back to slide two and find the bench and the niche in the finished room. Same wood. Different life. 🔁

Same room. Nothing else the same. 🛁

The first photo is where this ended up. The second is where it started. 🏗

That pile next to the AC unit is the old deck. Gray, split, splintered boards pulled up one at a time. 🔨

Here's what people feel on a deck, even if they never say it: the bounce. A soft board by the door. A rail that gives when you lean on it. All of that starts underneath, so that's where we started too. 👣

Then the frame filled in and the decking went down. Railings, balusters, and stairs built to match. 🪚

And the screen cage is gone. Nothing between the deck and the water now. 🌴

Same view. Finally, a deck worth standing on to see it. 🫡

Look at the top left of the first photo. That's a hole straight through the wall. 👀

You don't see that from the driveway. You find it when the old siding comes off. 🏚️

So before a single new panel went up, every wall and every gable got sealed in house wrap. That layer is what keeps Florida rain from getting behind the siding. Nobody pays attention to it. But it's the part that matters most. 🧱

Then the new siding went on. Vertical panels on the walls. Horizontal lap siding up in the gables. Trim set back around every window. 🔨

Soffit under the eaves. Corners trimmed out clean. The porch post boxed into a real column. 🪚

Slides three and six are the same corner of the same house. That's the difference. 🔁

Same roof. Same palms. Not the same house anymore. 🏡

Most older homes aren't one house. They're three or four floors stitched together. 🏗

Look at the first two shots. The orange-toned strip wood in one room, dark laminate in the next, and a strip between them doing the work of an apology. Every doorway announced itself. 👀

So we took all of it out. 🔨

Third and fourth photos are the reality of a whole-home floor job. Every room stripped to bare slab. Old adhesive ground off. The slab checked and flattened before a single new plank went down, because wood telegraphs everything underneath it. Skip that step and you'll feel it under your feet for the next twenty years. 📐

Then the new floor. Wide plank white oak running one direction through the entire open plan. Same material in every room. No transition strips breaking up the doorways. 🪵

You can see straight through the living area, past the entry, into the back hallway, and it's one continuous floor the whole way. That's what makes a house read as bigger than it is. ✨

Same square footage. Feels like a different home. 🫡

The before wasn't broken. It was just 2004. 🏗

Builder-grade tile with diamond accents. A drop-in tub you had to climb into. A glass block wall doing nothing for anybody. All of it fine, and all of it dating the entire room. 👀

So we took it to the studs. 🔨

Second photo is the part that decides everything. Cement board on every wall. Bench framed in solid before a single tile went up. Drain set and sloped. Nobody ever sees this stage, and it's the only reason the finished room will still look right in fifteen years. 🧱

Now look at what it became. The tub and shower share one open wet room instead of fighting each other for floor space. Large format tile runs floor to ceiling. Pebble mosaic underfoot with a linear drain set flush. Recessed niches framed in during rough-in, not cut in after. That arched window we kept and built the whole layout around. ✨

Double vanity with brass fixtures. Curbless entry. Grab bars placed where they're actually useful and finished to match everything else, so the room works long-term without looking like it's trying to. 🛁

Same footprint. Same window. Completely different room. 🫡

Tile is the one finish you can't fake. 🏗

Every line is visible. Every lippage, every uneven joint, every bad cut against a wall. You walk on it every day and you notice every mistake. 👀

This was a full home tile job, and the craftsmanship is in the details. Large format tile carried through every room. Grout lines kept consistent from one end of the house to the other. The pattern running continuously through the doorways instead of breaking at every threshold. 🔨

Look down the hallway shot. Straight lines from the front of the house to the back. That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone snapped the layout before a single tile went down. 📐

Floors that look this clean on day one still look this clean in ten years, because the prep underneath was done right. ✨

Same footprint. Completely different kitchen. 🏗

The before shot tells you everything. Flat laminate doors, a soffit eating the top two feet of the room, bare concrete underfoot, and a ceiling that went nowhere. 👀

So, we opened it up. Cabinets run to the vault now instead of stopping short. New boxes set plumb and level across the whole L. Quartz tops, undermounted sink; tile backsplash carried behind the entire run. Island built with real storage and the dishwasher tucked where it belongs. 🔨
That's our crew in the middle of it. Same guys from demo day to the last handle. 👷

The part that matters isn't the door style. It's that the uppers line up, the counter seams land where you won't notice them, and the island sits square to the room. Get that wrong and no finish saves it. ✨
