Yesterday we lost a great man our father, grandfather, great-grandfather, boss, and friend, L. H. “Butch” Glasgow, passed away.
In 1965, he came to Manatee County with his wife, their newborn son Ty, and his son-in-law Chuck, carrying little more than $300 and a willingness to work. At the time, he was working alongside his father-in-law at American Steel Fence under Charles Bentley. But Butch had bigger aspirations. In 1971, through grit and determination, he opened USA Fence.
Butch was not formally educated, but he clearly understood the values that matter most: hard work, customer service, integrity, and the determination to make things happen. Those principles became the foundation of USA Fence and they will remain the foundation well into the future.
Let us assure you that this company will continue to grow and succeed for many years to come. We are committed to honoring and preserving his legacy, but we also recognize that it takes all of us to make that commitment a reality. While the future of USA Fence may look and feel different without L. H. Glasgow at the helm, it will continue to operate by the same principles that have guided this company for more than 54 years.
