Why grow native plants?

Native plants support local biodiversity. Many insects, including specialist pollinators, depend on them for nectar, pollen, leaves or habitat. They provide food and homes for birds, mammals, amphibians and microbes. They create the structural diversity (groundcover, shrubs, canopy) that many animals need for nesting, foraging and shelter.

Join CCE Putnam County for an exciting afternoon of Designer Handbag Bingo Sunday, May 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. at VFW Post 1374, 32 Gleneida Ave. in Carmel.

We’ll have designer handbags from Kate Spade, Michael Kors and Coach! Light refreshments will be served (water, coffee/tea and cookies). Your ticket includes 8 rounds of Bingo and a door prize. There will also be additional Bingo cards, Ultimate Bingo, raffles and a 50/50 for purchase at the event!

The fee is $50.

Join us for Earth Day Tree Planting, Wednesday, April 22, from 2 - 5 p.m. in the Restore & Regenerate Forest at Tilly Foster Farm in Brewster.

All registrants will receive a free tree seedling to plant at home!

Native plants provide habitat for insects, birds and other wildlife: planting one will provide habitat for them. We’ll teach you how to plant and care for a bareroot seedling. Tools will be provided for hands large and small.

This is a family friendly event; children are welcome with an attending adult.
