🔨 NOW HIRING: Skilled Construction Laborer — Full-Time 🔨

Title Construction (Bridgeport, WV) is looking for a full-time skilled laborer to join our crew.

What you'll be doing:
• Decks, additions, remodels, basement finishing — real residential projects
• Framing, rough and finish carpentry, drywall, and general skilled work

What we need:
• 2+ years of construction experience (framing/carpentry a plus)
• Reliable transportation to the job site EVERY day — sites around Bridgeport, Clarksburg, Fairmont, and Morgantown
• Able to pass a drug screening
• Your own basic hand tools
• Able to lift 80 lbs and stay on your feet all day
• On time, EVERY time
• 18+, legally authorized to work in the US

Pay: $20–$25/hr depending on experience. Steady 40-hour weeks, full-time W-2.

The part nobody tells you: the drawing, the permits, the ordering, and the scheduling all happen before a hammer swings — and they take real time.

1. Design first — every decision made on paper, in 3D, while changes are still free. The drawing is the cheapest place to change your mind.
2. Permits have their own pace — the county doesn't move at your speed. File in the fall and you're not waiting on paperwork in April.
3. Materials have lead times — windows, cabinets, specialty items can take weeks. Ordering early keeps the build on schedule.
4. Good builders book up — contractors worth hiring have a calendar. Drawn and permitted early means you're on it early.

Those icicles are a warning.

Big icicles mean an ice dam is forming: heat escaping through the roof melts the snow, the water runs to the cold eave and refreezes into a ridge, and the next round of melt backs up under your shingles and into the house.

Check this fall:
1. Attic floor — can you see the tops of the joists? The insulation's too thin.
2. Bath fans — a fan blowing into the attic pumps warm, wet air right at the roof deck.
3. Soffit vents — blocked soffits kill the airflow that keeps the roof deck cold.

The fix is inside the house: air-seal the attic floor, add insulation, ventilate the roof. The icicles shrink when the roof stays cold. DM your questions — follow for more.

Reading a contractor's quote like someone who's done it before.

1. Line items, not lump sums — one lump sum tells you nothing. Every task on its own line tells you everything.
2. Allowances vs fixed — an allowance is a placeholder with your name on it. Ask which numbers are real and which are guesses.
3. What's NOT included — permits, haul-away, the painting after the drywall. The exclusions section is where surprises hide.
4. Payment schedule — small deposit, payments tied to finished work. Never pay in full for work that hasn't happened yet.
5. Change-order rules — how extras get priced and who signs off, decided before work starts. Not after.
