David DeVooght — owner of DeVooght House & Building Movers (based in Wisconsin) — is stepping in to save homes and barns slated for demolition as a new 500-acre data-center complex moves into the Port Washington area.
The expansion by Vantage Data Centers will take up ~500 acres out of the 672 acquired, displacing more than 100 properties — farms, homes and out-buildings alike.
David’s team is actively relocating structures — one example: a pole barn, lifted, rigged and wheeled away at night under es**rt, bound for a new home.
“It’s just another opportunity to save a building,” he says — part of a family-tradition business doing about 60 moves a year, with an eye on repurposing buildings for housing or workshops instead of demolition.
