Nor’Easter Update: 5pm on 9/25

Brigantine has taken a major hit from this storm. This morning’s high tide brought the worst flooding we’ve seen since Superstorm Sandy, along with major beach erosion and significant damage to our dune system.

We are especially concerned about the North End, where erosion has left our homes and City infrastructure extremely vulnerable.

The Promenade and several of its beach access ramps have also sustained significant damage.

We are working with the Governor’s Office, Congressman Van Drew’s office, FEMA, Atlantic County, and Senator Vince Polistina to assess the damage and get the resources we need to begin the recovery.

FEMA is expected in Brigantine this week, and we are working with our federal, state, and county partners on a disaster declaration to help access emergency funding.

We will conduct a full assessment of the beaches when conditions improve and it is safe to do so.

Until then, please stay off the beaches.

We will continue to keep everyone updated as we work through this together.
