Many people ask us what medical gas entails. In answer to that, heres a description of what we do every day:
Medical gas installation refers to the process of setting up a system that provides a safe and effective method of delivering and regulating medical gases for medical use. These gases include oxygen, nitrous oxide, medical air, and others that are used in medical procedures. It takes having a special license to install and pharmaceutical license to distribute dangerous drugs. The licensed person must be present on every job at all times.
The process begins with understanding the requirements of the medical facility. This includes the types of gases needed, the areas where they'll be used, and the volume of gas required.
Next, the medical gas pipelines are installed. These are special pipes that safely transport the gases from their storage containers to the various parts of the facility where they are needed. The installation must comply with specific standards and regulations to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Alongside the pipelines, alarm systems and area valves are installed. Alarm systems are crucial for monitoring the pressure and flow of gases, alerting staff if there are any issues. Area valves allow for sections of the system to be isolated for maintenance or in case of emergencies.
Finally, outlets are installed in specific areas, like patient rooms or operating theatres, where the gases are needed. These outlets are designed to allow for the easy connection and disconnection of gas-specific hoses and devices.
After installation, the system is thoroughly tested and commissioned to ensure it is working correctly and safely before it is put into use. Regular maintenance and inspections are also carried out to ensure ongoing safety and reliability.
Medical gas installation is a complex and critical process that ensures medical facilities have the necessary gases they need, delivered in a safe and controlled manner. It requires a deep understanding of both medical needs and engineering principles.
