🏁 1953 F-100 Road Race Project

Installing a racing-style fuel filler on this 1967 Mustang Eleanor.

From marking and cutting the quarter panel to welding in the mounting plate, metal finishing, and getting everything ready for the final installation.

A lot of work goes into making a small detail look like it belongs there.

1953 Ford F100 | Engine Mockup

A little sneak peek at the progress on the F100. The cab is back on the chassis, and I'm working on the engine placement and final fitment.

Still plenty of work ahead, but it's starting to take shape!

1953 Ford F100 | CH 15

Reworking two original frame crossmembers to fit their new positions at the rear of the chassis.

I shortened and reshaped both crossmembers, sandblasted them, and applied a temporary primer to prevent rust until the entire frame is ready for its final powder coating.

I also finished boxing the rear section of the frame, completing this stage of the chassis fabrication.

Building a Wire Buck, 1970 Mercury Cyclone.

This rear section of the 1970 Mercury Cyclone had been repaired before, but it was in very poor condition and the original shape and body lines had been completely lost.

After removing the damaged and incorrectly shaped metal, I used welding rod to build a wire buck directly on the car, recreating the correct contours, transitions and body lines of the quarter panel.

This gives me a three-dimensional reference that I can use while metal shaping the new section, allowing me to constantly check the shape as the new panel comes together.

Once the repair is finished, I'll put together a full reel showing the entire process from start to finish.

Part 2 of the quarter panel restoration on this 1970 Mercury Cyclone.

In Part 1, I fabricated the new panel from scratch using metal shaping techniques. In this second part, I show how I fit and install it.

While I’m at it, I also remove the B-pillar to clean out all the hidden rust, protect everything with epoxy primer, and put it all back together before welding the new panel into place.

This is the first of two chapters in which I reconstruct this rear quarter panel. In this reel, I show some of the steps I took to fabricate the front of the rear quarter panel for this classic car, a 1970 Mercury Cyclone. In the next chapter, I'll show how I fitted and welded it to the car.

Chapter 8 of the restoration of my classic truck, a 1953 Ford F100. In this case, I show how I made the rear C-notches to lower the chassis height to the desired height.
