If you’re working with a brushable hard coat for the first time to protect your EPS and fabrications, there are a few things you must know for successful application.

1. Make sure to apply it to the recommended thickness listed on the technical data sheet (TDS).

2. Make sure to follow the mix ratio listed on the TDS.

3. Make sure to thoroughly mix the components together.

4. Make sure you’re working in a temperature-controlled environment with low humidity.

If you don’t follow these steps, you may experience issues with your drying.

Did you know pourable thermoset urethanes are compatible with 3D printing materials like PLA?

In this new video from VFI, we take you through the full process of 3D printing a mold and then casting one of our 90 A fast-setting elastomers to make chess set pieces.

Urethane casting elastomers like this one are typically best used in an injection molding system, but due to the size of the parts, we were able to pour them by hand before they cured.

If you’re interested in a material like this or want to familiarize yourself with other 3D-printing compatible materials from VFI, please reach out through the website or by calling (800) 307-9218.

A few weeks ago, VFI contributed some and materials to Anthony Powers of Cyclone Signs for a class he was helping teach in Dallas, Texas.

Around 25 individuals learned some basics of foam carving, as well as the potential materials they could use to protect their foam creations and where to get them.

Anthony was able to demonstrate the Qwik Spray System using VFI-6071 70 D Qwik Spray Hard Coat, which is our non-fire-retardant formula, perfect for outdoor projects.

Some students from the class expressed their appreciation and said that they enjoyed learning how to use the products and gained clarity on which products they need for their projects.

Check out some pictures below of the seminar, and please reach out if you have any questions about our hard coat materials.

If you haven’t heard about it yet, VFI has added a new product to our line of epoxies, VFI-4723 84 D 2:1 Deep Pour Epoxy.

This material is for deep pour projects, such as encapsulating objects, river tables, creative epoxy castings, and more.

From extensive testing, we’ve determined that it is compatible with mica powders and dyes to create a desired aesthetic for your creations.

A variety of materials can be set in the epoxy, including dried flowers, marbles, metal pieces, colorful flakes, and much more.

While it can be poured as thick as 4 inches, it’s typically recommended to pour the material in layers, especially for larger projects.

Visit the product page to learn more about his material https://volatilefree.com/product/vfi-4723-84-d-21-deep-pour-epoxy/ or reach out to (800) 307-9218 with any questions.
