🎉 A familiar face is stepping into a new role at Rex Lumber!

We're excited to announce Jessica Crowsey as our new Marketing and Communications Manager!

Jessica has supported Rex Lumber's social media and communications efforts for several years, helping share the stories of our employees, operations, and communities.

Originally from Natchez, Mississippi, Jessica and her husband, Jeremy, now call the Brookhaven area home. Together, they have four children, a daughter-in-law, and a grandson. Outside of work, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family, caring for the many animals on their five-acre property, and volunteering with local organizations.

As Rex Lumber begins its next 100 years, Jessica looks forward to strengthening connections across our mills, celebrating our employees, and continuing to share the stories that make Rex Lumber special.

Congratulations to Julio Orozgo on his promotion to Quality Control! 🎉

With valuable experience in the sawmill, Julio was ready for his next challenge. He set his sights on Quality Control, and now he's making it happen!

Roots of Rex Lumber | Part 14: The Legacy Continues

Finley and Martha Kay McRae made sure their children understood the lumber business from the ground up, exposing them to the people, jobs, and processes involved in taking a tree from the forest to a finished product.

As teenagers, Kathryn, Roby, Caroline, Finley Anne, and Charles all spent time working in and around the family business in various roles.

In 1998, Caroline joined Rex Lumber full time at the Bristol mill. Roby’s husband, Derek Bethke, joined the company in 2002, just before the Graceville mill restarted, followed by Charles in 2004. Roby would become more involved in the company in the late 2010s.

Over time, the next generation took on increasingly substantial roles within Rex Lumber, carrying forward a family legacy built over generations.

🎓 Congratulations, Tyler!

We’re proud to recognize Tyler Coker, Sawmill Supervisor at Rex Lumber Brookhaven, for graduating from the SLMA Fundamentals of Leadership program.

Through this three-module program, participants strengthen practical leadership skills in areas including communication, strategic thinking, relationship building and leadership development within the lumber industry.

🌲 Roots of Rex Lumber | Part 13: A Return to Graceville

In 2001, following the bankruptcy of U.S. Forest Industries, North Florida Lumber emerged as the high bidder for the Graceville mill, bringing the McRae family back to where so much of their story began.

The family announced plans to invest nearly $13 million to reopen and modernize the mill, bringing production and jobs back to Graceville.

With the return came a familiar name. The Graceville operation would once again carry the Rex Lumber name, first established by W.D. McRae in 1926.

More than two decades after leaving the Graceville mill, the McRae family had come home.

Rex Lumber had returned to Graceville.

Your artwork could be on the 2026 Rex Lumber Christmas Card!

We’re inviting students in Kindergarten through 5th grade to create their best Christmas artwork for a chance to have it featured on our official Christmas Card, in the December Rex Lumber newsletter and in local Christmas advertising.

🏆 Our first-place artist will receive a $50 gift card, with additional prizes for second and third place and a winner from each participating school.

And our favorite part: 🎁 Every student who enters will receive a gift from Rex Lumber!
