Demo feels like the exciting part. What happens before the demo can save you a massive headache.

One of the most expensive mistakes homeowners make is opening walls without having the structure properly assessed first. Hidden rot, water damage, and framing issues do not care how good the design plan looks.

That is why bringing in a structural engineer before demo can be money well spent. A problem caught early is a lot easier to plan for than a surprise buried behind finished walls.

One thing that gets overlooked fast? Humidity.

If the air is too dry or too damp, finishes can shift, cure poorly, or fail earlier than they should. Hardwood can expand or contract. Paint can dry unevenly. And small shortcuts turn into visible problems down the line 👀

A better result is not just about choosing the right materials, it’s also about installing them in the right conditions.

For hardwood and paint, humidity should typically stay between 35% and 55%. Temperature matters too 🌡️

It started as an $80K kitchen.
