🚨 A major shift is coming to U.S. solar module pricing.
The solar industry is entering a very different procurement environment under the new Section 232 measures covering polysilicon and downstream solar products.
Beginning December 4, 2026, the new rules establish:
• A $0.38/W minimum import price for solar modules
• A $0.22/W minimum import price for solar cells
• A 15% Section 232 tariff on covered downstream polysilicon derivatives, subject to country-specific provisions and other applicable duties
And the market is already reacting.
Recent market data from Anza shows average imported module pricing moving from approximately $0.27/W to $0.38/W — an increase of more than 40% for the shipments it analyzed.
For developers, EPCs and distributors, this makes module sourcing, timing and existing U.S. inventory increasingly important as we approach the December 4 implementation date.
At Oak Ridge Power, we’re watching these changes closely as we work with our partners on module procurement and upcoming commercial projects.
The days of looking at module price alone are changing. Compliance, supply-chain structure, tariff exposure and timing are becoming just as important as cents per watt.
