Chemical Blender/Warehouseman

Description: Chemical Mixer / Blender are responsible for mixing raw materials to create finished products according to batch tickets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sets up and start all mixing tanks and blenders.

• Obtains and understands all documentation for making batches. Ensures correct ingredients are used for each batch.

• Pumping and pouring chemicals into blend tanks in predetermined quantities.

• Operates equipment (mixers, scales, meters, pumps, forklifts, etc.) safely.

• Monitors raw material usage on each blend are added correctly with right weights.

• Ensures all raw materials returned to inventory have the right quantity and information on containers and containers are in good condition.

• Follows lab instructions regarding batch approval, adjustments, and any additional requirements.

• Cleans equipment when needed.

• Refers issues/problems to lead/supervisor person(s).

• Communicates with material handlers and packers when materials are needed and batches are ready to pack.

• Completes all paperwork and batch documentation in a timely manner.

• Observes safety requirements set forth by company.

• Performs other related duties as required ie: warehouse duties.

Position Requirements:

Requirements: • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English, including • safety rules, operating procedures, product recipes, material identification, etc. • Able to manipulate 55 gallon drums of chemicals. • Must have mathematical skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Able to perform • these operations using weight and volume measurements. • Able to manipulate powder bags up to 100 lbs. • Good troubleshooting skills. • Able to drive a fork lift – have a valid fork lift certification. • Previous experience mixing / blending chemicals

Small Business Accountant Needed:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for timely and accurate preparation of financial accounting data in a variety of areas. It is essential that this candidate brings analytical and organizational skills in order to best support the accounting team.

Responsibilities

Work closely with the department heads to understand and ensure accuracy of all financial reporting activity.
Assist in preparation and distribution of financial statements.
Support month end close.
Provide accounting support not limited to AR/AP/Cash.
Support daily order to cash reconciliations.
Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Economics, or Finance.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, accounting software. Experience with franchise taxes, payroll taxes and reporting to local, state and federal agencies.

Deep South Chemical, Inc. has lost one of our past employees. Mr. Joe Escagne passed away on Tuesday March 8, 2023.

Mr. Joe was a model employee. He was an employee who never questioned his supervisor or ever complained about what job he was assigned to do.
A kind, sweet, and loyal person was Mr. Joe. He loved his job at Deep South Chemical, known to tell all of us his feelings about the company he worked for.

Mr. Joe, you will be truly missed by all of us at Deep South Chemical, Inc.

Joseph Escagne
August 26, 1953 - March 7, 2023

Loreauville– Funeral services will be held for Mr. Joseph Escagne, 69, on Friday, March 10, 2023 at 2:00PM at David Funeral Home of Loreauville with Father Bill Melancon officiating. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 9:00AM until the time of the service with a rosary being prayed in the funeral home at 11:00AM.

A native and lifelong resident of Loreauville, “Joe” as he was affectionately known, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 7, 2023. Joe enjoyed his work at Deep South Chemicals and worked there for many years. In his free time he enjoyed gathering with his family and friends, especially the Sunday gatherings with his parents before their passing. Mr. Escagne was a kind soul and a giver. He was always willing to help anyone in need, no matter the situation. He will be forever remembered for being warmhearted, considerate and gracious, and he will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his siblings, Wilfred Escagne and wife Bernice of Loreauville, Cecile Escagne Blanchard and husband Early of Loreauville, Robert Escagne and wife Linda of Loreauville, Rita Escagne Abshire of New Iberia; 15 nieces and nephews; and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Moise and Marie Ella Desormeaux Escagne; 2 siblings, Martha Escagne Rodriguez and Albert Escagne; and brother-in-law, Marty Abshire

Honored to serve as Pallbearers are Larry, Alfred, and Raymond Escagne, Joshua Schouest, Gavin Abshire and Chris Picard.
