Work hard, play hard!

Our Maryland team has been making the most of summer with a few opportunities to get together outside of the workplace.

From celebrating poolside at their annual summer picnic to recently heading out on the water for a team fishing trip, it’s been a great chance to relax, recharge and enjoy some time together away from the day-to-day.

We’re moving up!

Benchmark Construction is proud to be ranked No. 121 on Building Design+Construction's Top 160 Contractors for 2026, climbing nine spots from No. 130 last year.

This recognition is a reflection of the work happening every day across our jobsites and offices, and the people, partnerships and trust that make it possible.

Sometimes progress is about giving existing spaces new life.

Renovations are underway inside the existing Health Center at Souderton Mennonite Homes, part of the Living Branches Senior Living Community.

Our team is working through interior room renovations, upgrading each space with fresh finishes, updated walls and mechanical units, along with refreshed bathrooms. Each completed room provides a more comfortable, updated environment for the residents who call Souderton home.

We’re proud to continue making progress and helping Living Branches thoughtfully improve its community, one space at a time.

Phase 1 of construction at Fernecrest, a community of Messiah Lifeways, is well underway with progress taking shape across the site.

Framing crews are completing the second floor on the first half of the apartment building, while teams are actively preparing for the next portion to follow. Nearby, the cottages are beginning to take shape as well. Concrete foundations and pads are being poured, precast walls are arriving on site, and framing is beginning on some of the first cottages.

There’s a lot happening at Fernecrest, and we’re excited to see this new community continue to come together!

Nothing says summer quite like good food, great company, and a little friendly competition!

Our team and their families recently gathered at the Lancaster Liederkranz for Benchmark’s Summer Picnic. From the bounce house and trackless train to co****le, games, face painting, plenty of food, and activities for all ages, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

More than anything, it was a chance to step away from our day-to-day work, spend time together, and enjoy an evening with the families who are such an important part of the Benchmark community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this year’s picnic a great one!

Two milestones, 35 years of commitment to Benchmark!

This month, we’re proud to celebrate Superintendent Kevin Thibeault on 30 years with Benchmark and Carpenter Adam Burdge on 5 years with Benchmark.

Milestones like these are a reminder that our people are at the heart of what we build. We’re grateful for the experience, dedication, and contributions Kevin and Adam bring to our team and the impact they’ve made along the way.

Progress is moving upward at Fellowship Community !

Since our last update, crews have completed much of the metal framing as the three-story independent living apartment building begins to take shape. The team is now preparing for the arrival and installation of the second-floor precast plank.

Work also continues below the surface, with underground sanitary and domestic utilities progressing throughout the building. Once the precast plank is set, crews will continue exterior framing toward the third floor and begin in-wall plumbing and electrical rough-ins.

There’s no substitute for getting your hands dirty and learning by doing.

This summer, our carpentry interns worked alongside Benchmark’s experienced craftspeople, trying their hand at a wide range of tasks, learning new tools, and building confidence along the way. They also picked up tricks of the trade from seasoned carpenters, including how storyboards, templates, and thoughtful preparation can help you work smarter.

Our interns consistently shared how supportive our teams were and how willing people were to teach. Our mentors appreciated that same curiosity, especially interns who weren’t afraid to ask questions, jump in, and learn.

The skilled trades offer a world of opportunity, and experiences like these help the next generation see where those opportunities can take them.

Last week, our interns had the opportunity to take the floor and share what their summer at Benchmark has been all about.

During our Intern Luncheon, each intern reflected on their experience, from lessons learned and new responsibilities to the people who made coming to work something to look forward to. A common theme throughout the summer has been the willingness of our teams and mentors to answer questions, provide hands-on experience, and give our interns opportunities to explore different sides of the construction industry.

Of course, no summer is complete without a few memorable moments. The presentations wrapped up with plenty of laughs and stories that sent everyone out smiling.

We’re grateful for the energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm this group brought to Benchmark this summer, and especially thankful to the mentors and teams who invested their time in the next generation of our industry.
